Those of you who know me understand my passion for what I call “The Throwing Arts.”

Throwing weapons were probably some of our ancestor’s first hunting tools our ancestors used. Many throwing weapons exist, from Slings to Bolas and even plain rocks. I have used all these tools to feed myself.

I recently went to a friend’s place when he was running his sawmill, and as I dug through his scrap piles looking for Cedar for Bow-drill kits, I found a 2” thick curved piece of Oak that was perfect for making an “advanced” style throwing stick. Shaped like an airplane wing, its effective range goes from 20’ with a plain broken branch-style stick to 30+ yards!

I haven’t made the stick yet, as I need to study the material and decide on a design. But I can promise you it will be a one-of-a-kind masterpiece! Tickets are $20, and the raffle will run until July 1st!
